Reliance Jio leads subscriber numbers in Delhi, remains market leader


NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio has managed to outnumber its rival telecom operators Airtel and Vodafone Idea in terms of the user base. The telco has added 4.68 million mobile phone users in March this year. After this, the new addition the total subscriber base starts at 387 million subscribers.
Apart from this, the service provider has also become a market leader in Delhi/NCR with 1.82 crore subscribers which accounts for 34% market share. As per the data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) the telco has maintained its top spot in the Delhi for the last three consecutive months.
On the other hand, both Airtel and Vodafone-Idea lost 1.26 million and 6.35 million customers respectively in March. Both Airtel and Vodafone-Idea have reported the customer base of 283.66 million and 291.1 million respectively in their March quarter.
Recently, it was reported that Reliance Jio will launch the Jio Phone 3 on July 15 at the company’s 43rd annual general meeting. To recall, the first Jio Phone was launched by Mukesh Ambani at the 40th Reliance Annual General Meeting on July 21, 2017, at an “effective” price of Rs 0, for which the buyers had to pay Rs 1,500 first. Jio Phone 2 was unveiled in 2018, at the company’s 41st AGM held on July 31 2018. JioPhone 2 launched at Rs 2,999.
Reliance Industries has also launched a chatbot on WhatsApp for its 43rd annual general meeting. The chatbot is available on WhatsApp number 7977111111. Interested people will be required to send a “Hi” from their WhatsApp number to this number to get hold of accurate and immediate information on the AGM. The ChatBot can be accessed 24×7 and acts as a help desk. Reliance claims that the chatbot has been designed to handle varied queries.
